Position Summary

Implements and coordinates software/systems training programs for the purpose of enhancing the knowledge and skills of Dallas College employees. Oversees the day-to-day activities of the software/systems training team responsible for providing training and support to end users related to software/systems purchased and supported by the institution. Schedules and forecasts training needs based on previous trends and future direction of the institution. Provides metrics and statistical analysis to leadership on the relative success of the learning effort of the team. Project partner in the development and application of new deployments for software acquired and supported by Dallas College and its partners.  


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to instruct on a range of different software applications used throughout businesses, in addition to being knowledgeable on modern training delivery techniques using virtual means.  Ability to assess individual/group training needs and develop/deliver learning activities. Must be able to keep IT skills and knowledge up to date through professional development activities.

Physical Requirements

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Occasionally may be required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus two (2) years of work-related experience.
  • Must have current and valid Texas driver’s license required for off-site travel.
  • On-call, work hours may extend beyond the regular, eight hours, Monday-Friday, workday, including weekends and holidays to provide immediate support due to system failures on a 24/7 basis.
  • Official transcripts will be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of training programs for end users related to computer programs, software, and network systems supported by the Institution. Conducts needs assessment and training facilitation via a variety of delivery methods (web-based, classroom and on-demand). Designs and develops course materials, handouts, instructional aids, audio visual materials and similar teaching aids. Develop testing and evaluation procedures. Continuously enhance technical instructional delivery and presentation skills by staying up to date on trends and best practices through professional development activities.
  • A demonstrated life-long learner with attention paid to upskilling in modern software solutions with demonstrated innovation applied in the design and deployment of the team and their resources. Manages the online presence of the team in terms of SharePoint community and team sites and engages with marketing to bring modern solutions to the stakeholders.  
  • Takes a proactive approach to the scheduling of content and forecasts the training needs of staff and students of the institution including those new to Dallas College to ensure our software/ systems are not a barrier to efficient onboarding.  
  • Determines training needs by meeting with stakeholders and constituents. Aligns training with the needs of the end user or the organization’s strategic goals. Adopts a UX/UI perspective to the design and implementation of training to ensure training meets the needs/ preferences of a diverse population of stakeholders.   
  • Responsible for development of, tracking, and reporting of training metrics for training effectiveness, student engagement, and other relevant data. 
  • Develops and maintains relevant training modules related to hardware and software applications supported by the institution. 
  • Acts as a quality assurance review resource for all newly generated and existing training content at Dallas College.  
  • Coordinates training logistics, delivery, and travels to various Dallas College locations, as necessary. 
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with diverse internal/external stakeholders and constituents within the DCCCD network community to provide effective consultation, support, and/or training to end users.  
  • Functions as a member of the IT team collaborating with implementation teams, project managers, support, and product owners to analyze, develop and document training based on applicable product and/or system. 
  • Leads virtual and in-person Instructor led training sessions as needs arise to fill any momentary team gaps to meet the demands of stakeholder training requirements.  
  • Provides project management and business analyst skillset in the coordination and collaboration of large-scale IT projects and works as a cross- functional asset in an adaptive capacity to ensure prompt delivery of solutions to stakeholders. 
  • Creates, develops, and oversees training processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with Dallas College policies and guidelines. Responsible for planning, development and implementation of new curriculum, revisions and/or updates to existing applications. Oversees the day-to-day activities of team members providing mentoring, coaching, training, evaluation, and development. Conducts regular SCRUM meetings to coordinate the project activities of the training team. 
  • Ensure new team members are onboarded to the highest level of technical proficiency, engages in the professional development of the team with yearly goals setting and provision of curated training content in the team meetings/ workshops.  
  • Actively engages with IT managers from other functional areas to stay appraised of developments in the IT landscape of the College and attends Change advisory, IT council and Digital engagement Council meetings.  
  • Coordinates overall learning and development efforts by engaging with other leaders in the Dallas College professional development sphere. E.g. Representatives from Human relations, Learning and Development and the Center for excellence in Teaching and Learning.   
  • Utilizes excellent communication skills when interacting with diverse, multicultural individuals internal/external to the DCCCD network community. Monitors and evaluates the success and effectiveness of training programs and return on investment (ROI) periodically, providing reports as requested. Strong writing skills with excellent attention to detail. Provides exemplary customer service. 
  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
